The total stretch of road network engulfing the whole country is about 68,732 km of which about 3,000 km comprises a section of a 44 motorways system. Subways or metro rails are popular modes of communication like the Lisbon metro, Porto metro and this account for covering an area of about 35 km in the form of rail lines. Portugal is located in the south western part of Europe and its strategic positioning allows various international flights to pass this region. The most important and busiest airports in Portugal are Porto, Faro, Funchal (Madeira), Ponta Delgada (Azores) and Lisbon.

Communication tools in the country are very well developed, with the number of mobile connections undertaken exceeding that of the population. Internet connections are available easily with internet cafes and hotels providing opportunity for surfing while free internet connection is also offered to the countrymen at the "Espacos de Internet". According to recent statistics, about 78% companies and 36.8% of domestic households have high speed internet connection available.
